Current Openings in the Orchestra at Temple
Square
String Sections
Several openings are available in the viola,
cello and contrabass sections. Auditions for
these positions are being held as applications
are received. While there are no current
openings in the violin section, openings
happen regularly. Inquiries regarding openings
for violinists are invited.
Contact the Coordinator of Auditions (see below)
regarding these or potential openings in other
sections of the Orchestra.
Auditions
Auditions for the Orchestra at Temple
Square are held on Thursday evenings throughout
the year as openings in the Orchestra arise. The
most timely announcements of specific or
anticipated Orchestra vacancies are published on
this page of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir website
as well as notices in the weekly Church
News section of the Deseret Morning News.
Audition appointments and materials including
an application form and the music required for
the audition can be requested by e-mail to
Ed Thompson, the Coordinator of Auditions, at

Personal Qualifications
Instrumentalists interested in auditioning for
the Orchestra must meet the following
qualifications:
- Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints in good standing.
- Live within a 100-mile radius of the
Tabernacle on Temple Square.
- Be willing to provide their service and
talent on a voluntary basis.
The Orchestra has no age guidelines as there are
for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
