Becoming a Member of the Bell Choir
Audition Information
APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE
BELLS ON TEMPLE SQUARE. PLEASE SEE APPLICATION
INFORMATION BELOW.
Generally, prior bell ringing experience is
necessary, although talented musicians without
experience are welcome to apply. From interested
applicants, a number of individuals will be
selected to audition by participating in a series
of bell workshops. These workshops will be held
in
the Tabernacle on Saturdays 8:45 a.m. until 11:00
a.m. beginning January 7, 2012, and continuing
each week
through the month of January. New members of
the Bells on Temple Square will then be selected
from workshop members.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Bells on Temple Square is a 28 member hand
bell choir which is an official part of the
Mormon
Tabernacle Choir music organization. The Bells
often accompany the Choir and the Orchestra on
Temple Square for concerts and broadcasts,
including the Choir’s annual Christmas concert.
Together the Choir, Orchestra and Bells make a
unique and sublime sound. Twice a year, the
Bells
on Temple Square performs in its own concerts,
usually in late spring and November, and full
house audiences gather to hear them.
Candidates for Bells on
Temple Square must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 20 and 45 years of age
- Live within 100 miles of Temple Square
- Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints in good standing

Musicians interested in auditioning for Bells on
Temple Square need to submit a completed
